1. Eat Pray Love

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Not only do we learn that hitting rock bottom is the best way to start climbing back up, but we see beautiful places and beautiful people that are loaded with life lessons and philosophies. I can’t imagine finishing this movie and not wanting to make some huge changes in life.

2. The Odd Life of Timothy Greene

This movie definitely has its strange moments but it teaches us to embrace the present and notice all the simple beauty in the world around us. Timothy will have you chasing your dreams and getting back in touch with nature in no-time.

3. Forrest Gump (*Available on Netflix)

An all time favorite — Forrest recounts his amazing story showing us that we all have our own story to tell, so we should do things to really make it count. It’s also one of those movies that you can watch a million times and still catch things you’ve never noticed before.

4. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

I saw this in theaters, and I’m glad I did. What a beautiful film about a day-dreaming man’s real-life journey that is much better than anything he could have dreamed up. Be ready to be filled with wanderlust after this one.

5. Braveheart

Besides Mel’s wonderfully classic role as the strong warrior, leader, and hero — there’s romance, revenge, and motivation to stand up to the big guys for what you believe in.

6. The Notebook

Obviously this one revolves around romance, but it inspires viewers to reach and hold out for that real, true love that few are lucky to find. We all deserve our own love story, and this movie reminds us about that.

7. Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood

I love movies that work their way through history from the present day, so this one is a favorite of mine. Along with comedic relief and a sad/touching story, we learn to focus on what truly matters and let go of pain and suffering from our past.

8. The Blind Side

Michael shows us that no matter where we come from, we can reach the stars — or in this case, the NFL. It’s a beautiful movie based on a true story.

9. Click (*Available on Netflix)

If you’ve seen it, chances are you were in tears by the end of the film. This movie reminds us how quickly time flies and the importance of embracing the moment instead of waiting for the future — otherwise you might miss all the good stuff.

10. Yes Man

Where would life bring you if you had to say “yes” to everything? Saying “no” to events and opportunities is such an easy and comfortable habit for us. But sometimes we need the excitement of saying “yes” — one little decision could ultimately change our lives for the better.

“Hold fast to dreams,
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird,
That cannot fly.”
― Langston Hughes
